Hi Zee, Yes just ignore your post protein shake and wait till your first meal after your fast, then ensure that you get an adequate portion of protein then.

am going to attempt IF, however i have a wee question.
during my fast from 8pm to 12pm, following a weights session, would i just ignore my post workout protein shake and continue with the fast.

Hi John, On Leangains.com, Martin has several "fasting schedules" depending on your preference, because the 8pm - 12pm is not a hard and fast rule. However, Marianne works nights too and she fasts over night regardless if she's working, so the pattern stays the same. I guess it depends if you can stop yourself snacking in work. But any 16 hour period is fine, as long as you factor in when you train. Martin goes into this more on his site, which is helpful.

Hey, nice post! I've heard so many different stories on how muscle does or does not have much of an affect on metabolism, do you have a source? Also with HGH increasing 6 fold during a fast, any studies to prove this? thanks.

Hi

Yes coffee, tea, green tea are all okay as theses drinks will not spike insulin levels and take you out of a fasted state. Try and drink plenty of water as this will help the body to detox and flush out any harmful toxins.

Hi,
Enjoyed reading this post.I am a 51 year old woman who exercises moderately. My routine includes weights and cardio using the HIIT method. I'm hoping this approach will help me lose some stubborn weight around the middle. I do know we can't spot reduce. Although I do exercise and do watch what I eat I know the food is the problem. I'm going to be more diligent in my record keeping when it comes to food. Thank you for this valuable information. It is much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply, i would agree with everything you have said it is working extremely well for me and my clients and is so easy to implement. The thing i love best is i don't have to prepare so much food, i just have one huge meal after my fast and two snacks and im done, haven't lost any muscle mass and getting leaner by the day.
